CPCC wins both the 2019 Ontario Winter Cup Ski Loppet & the 2018-2019 Ontario Winter Cup Series!2/4/2019
![]() Canoe Kayak Ontario (CKO) Sprint hosted it's second of two 2018-2019 Ontario Winter Cup Series events this past Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 in Gatineau, QC. Over 60 athletes, alumni, volunteers and parents from 8 Ontario clubs participated in the Ontario Winter Cup Ski Loppet. Congratulations to Carleton Place Canoe Club for their first place finish with 97 points. Rideau was 2nd with 83 points, Balmy Beach 3rd with 41 points. Carleton Place's performances at the Ski Loppet moved them from a 5th place ranking after the Ontario Winter Cup Swim Meet to the overall 2018-2019 Ontario Winter Cup Series Grand Champion! Rideau finished 2nd overall, Balmy Beach 3rd overall. The Ontario Winter Cup Series combines a clubs total points from both the Swim Meet and Ski Loppet. The Ontario Winter Cup Ski Loppet was part of our final 2018-2019 Ontario Team NextGen training camp before the athletes head off to on-water training in Florida. Ontario Team athletes arrived in Gatineau, QC on Thursday and completed multiple ski sessions before the big race on Sunday.
