![]() On Sunday, February 2, 2020, 70 paddlers, alumni and parents from 7 Canoe Club participated in our Ontario Winter Cup – Ski Loppet in Gatineau Park, QC. Participants skied a 7 km, 14 km or 22 km loop in either the U14, U18 or Open category. Exceptional performances included RCC’s Ben Elder’s (U14) and CPCC’s Caroline Bentley’s (U14) first place finishes in the 7 km race, RCC’s Courtney Spratt’s (Open) and RCC’s Henrik Neuspiel’s (14) finishes in the 14 km race and 22 km race winners RCC’s Anna Semeniuk (U14) and RCC’s Patrick Harrington (U18) who completed the 22 km loop in 1:18:32 and 1:09:56 respectively. Rideau won the event with 271 points; Carleton Place was second with 70 points and Richmond Hill was third with 38 points. Full results can be found here. After all three Cup events, Rideau Canoe Club is the 2019-2020 Ontario Winter Cup Champion! Richmond Hill finished second overall and Balmy Beach finished third. The Ontario Winter Cup also marked the end of a 4-day NextGen Ski Camp. 40 Ontario Team athletes from across Ontario completed the general aerobic training in preparation for their warm-weather training camps in March.
