CKO Sprint offers multiple mentoring programs that provide a formal structure and resources to assist Ontario coaches in developing a personalized professional development pathway. The programs take into consideration current knowledge, experience and interests of coaches as well as needs and demands of the coach’s athletes. The primary aim is to ensure that targeted coaches have all the tools needed for their athletes and themselves to perform at their very best.

Development Coach Mentoring Program
The seasonal Development Coach Mentoring Program focuses on improving both structural and behavioural organizational effectiveness, increased technical coaching expertise, and building competition event management skills for coaches working with LTAD Training to Train stage athletes. Targeted coaches are selected in May each year. 2020 program information will be available in July.
Apprentice Coach Program
The two (2) year Apprentice Coach Program focuses on the development of high-performance coaches by providing an accelerated professional development plan in the areas of technical knowledge, sport science/sport medicine, enhanced coaching education towards Competition Development and/or Advanced Coach Diploma certification and integration in the high-performance training and competition environment. The program is intended for coaches working with LTAD Training to Train and Training to Compete stage athletes. Targeted coaches are selected in September/October every two years through an application process. Note the next application period will open in 2022.
Canada Games Apprentice Program
Provided by the Canada Games Council (CGC) and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), the program provides the opportunity for each province and territory to send two (2) female coaches and two (2) aboriginal coaches to the Canada Summer Games in apprenticeship roles. The purpose of the program is to provide developing coaches with a practical and integrated major national multi-sport games experience. Targeted coaches are selected two (2) years out from the Games via the Coaches Association of Ontario.
