In alignment with CKO Sprint's Strategic Plan, we're pleased to announce a new initiative that aims to bring programs and awareness of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to our sport.
With support from CKO Executive Director, Orest Stanko, and the CKO Sprint Board of Directors, the committee is led by Kerri-Ann Redwood, Chair and Ryan Blair, Technical Director.
The larger team of provincial volunteers consists of those with a broad range of experience, including:
The committee meets quarterly to discuss equity, diversity, and inclusion sport specific puzzles, and to propose grassroots programs for clubs, coaches, and administrators. This includes content for the Coaching Pathway, awareness content for our clubs, as well as programs for our young membership who are learning about this topic in a thoughtful way.
As a key step, CKO Sprint has partnered with the MLSE Foundation and their launch of the Change the Game Research Project. The project is an Ontario-wide youth sport census to understand sport/recreation access, engagement, and equity issues in Ontario.
We are looking for our membership, ages 6-29 to participate in the project by completing this 10-minute anonymous survey by Friday, May 14th. The results will help inform important conversations on equity and sport.
Look for communications from the Committee in the near future about what's to come, including our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion resource web page. In the meantime, the EDI Committee is proud to announce the approval of the EDI Mandate and Terms of Reference for all to view.
If you have any questions or feedback for the committee, please contact email@example.com.
Yours in sport,
The CKO Sprint EDI Committee
