On Thursday, May 20, 2021, the Ontario government has released its Roadmap to Reopening, a three-step plan to safely reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures based on the provincewide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health indicators (ICU #’s, hospitalization, etc.).
In addition, the government has updated its current Regulation 82/20 (Stay-at-Home Order) to include pre-Step One activities. After consulting with the government and legal counsel, CKO Sprint assessed that member clubs may operate, in a limited capacity, under Section 4(2)(20) of the updated Regulation.
We are excited the provision allows clubs to operate effective Saturday, May 22, 2021, in a limited capacity.
Some important considerations as you plan your reopening:
Each step will last a minimum of 21 days, based on the provincewide vaccination rate and key public health indicators. Additional information will be provided when the new order is published.
We are encouraged by the opportunity to resume training and competitions this summer and strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated to allow the province to move through the reopening process as quickly as possible. However, we would like to emphasize the importance of strictly following the directives in place for each step in order to optimize our chances of a return to normal training and competition as soon as possible.
