Competition Specifics:
The competitions will occur virtually across the province where participants will compete in their home club environment. The format includes U12, U14, U16, U18, Open, Masters, Para and Special Olympic (Paddle ALL ID) events. U12 & U14 events will be on Saturday, August 22, 2020. U16+ events will be on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Race distances include 2000m, 1000m, 500m and 200m events.
Number of Events: Clubs/athletes can complete as many of the events as desired, including completing the same distance multiple times and submitting their best result.
All races must be completed between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. If conditions are poor, clubs can inform Ryan they are unable to complete the races during the assigned time and must complete the races by a predetermined time over the same weekend.
All participants must follow CKC’s on-water Code of Safety, public health regulations regarding group size and physical distancing, and must be registered with a member club as a competitive paddler.
A straight course with lane markers is not required. The goal is to complete the races in a manner that best fits the club environment.
The event will align with CKC’s “Coast to Coast to Coast - Paddle Challenge” on August 29th and will be broadcasted both nationally and provincially using Social Media Ambassadors at each club.
Each host location will designate an official to ensure races are run in a fair and safe manner, and results are reported accurately. If no certified official is available, we will work with you to provide a virtual Level 1 officials training before the competition.
