Erica Scarff

Club: Mississauga Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Paralympic Events: VL3 200m

Bio: Erica Studied kinesiology at Brock University. At age 12, Scarff was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that Terry Fox had. She says she is inspired by how Fox fought the cancer and was able to launch his Marathon of Hope.

Brianna Hennessy

Club: Ottawa River Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Paralympic Events: KL1 200m & VL2 200m

Bio: Since her Paralympic debut in Tokyo 2021, Brianna Hennessy has been a dominant force in Para canoe, frequently reaching the podium at major international competitions. Initially introduced to wheelchair rugby by the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, she made the Ontario provincial team and competed in the elite U.S. Quad Rugby Association. During the pandemic, teammate Patrice Dagenais suggested she try Para canoe, leading her to join the Ottawa River Canoe Club and rapidly achieve success on the world stage.

Simon McTavish

Club: Mississauga Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Olympic Events: K4 500m, K2 500m

Bio: Simon graduated from the University of Sydney in 2019 with a Bachelor of Project Management and holds a Bronze Medallion in Surf Lifesaving. In his free time, Simon loves making and editing kayaking videos and is inspired by Adam van Koeverden. His favourite mottos are “If you aren’t going all the way, why go at all?” and “The real workout starts when you want to stop.”

Nick Matveev

Club: Balmy Beach Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Olympic Events: K4 500m

Bio: Nick Matveev started paddling at the age of 10 and has been making waves in the kayaking world ever since. Outside of the sport, he enjoys beach days, Netflix, and exploring the outdoors through hiking and camping. Nick’s favorite motto is “Train like there’s no tomorrow,” and he finds inspiration in Adam van Koeverden.

Courtney Stott

Club: Balmy Beach Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Olympic Events: K4 500m, K2 500m

Bio: Courtney started paddling at age 12 and graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2014 with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. Her father Kevin and brother Jeremy both competed internationally for the Canadian canoe team, continuing a family legacy in the sport.

Bio: Toshka is currently studying Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa and hopes to one day become a sports medicine doctor.

Natalie Davison

Club: Rideau Canoe Club

Bio: Natalie works as a volunteer registered nurse at her family’s medical practice. She graduated from the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College with a collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Diploma in Nursing.

Katie Vincent

Club: Mississauga Canoe Club

Paris 2024 Olympic Events: C1 200m, C2 500m

Bio: Katie began paddling at the age of 10, joining a local youth program alongside her older brother. Inspired by Canadian canoeing legend Mark Oldershaw, Vincent seeks to learn from his experiences and achieve excellence in her sport. Currently studying kinesiology at York University, she enjoys exploring new cafes and traveling during the offseason.
