Our updated Coach & Technical Leader (CTL) Mentor Program (formally Development Coach Mentoring Program) focuses on the development of emerging coaches and club leads by providing resources and support to assist identified candidates by improving their competencies based on CKO Sprint's CTL Behavioural Competencies & Excellence Pathway. Working with CKO Sprint's Technical Director and expert mentors, program candidates will complete a review of current competencies and develop a personalized learning plan to address areas for improvement.

The program will provide candidates with the opportunity to gain experience from experts in a high-performance setting (Ontario Team training camps & competitions), as well as remotely based on their personalized plan.

Outcomes

Candidates will have completed a learning plan to meet the 'desired competency' level of a 'Future Excellence - Competitive Coach & Seasonal Manager', based on CKO Sprint's CTL Behavioural Competencies & Excellence Pathway.

Candidates are required to have completed the Competition Introduction workshop, or be registered for the upcoming workshop.

The 2026 program application deadline is May 15, 2026.

Application Form

The one (1) to two (2) year High Performance Apprentice Coach Program (ACP) focuses on the development of high-performance coaches by providing an accelerated professional development plan in the areas of technical knowledge, sport science/sport medicine, enhanced coaching education towards Competition Development and/or Advanced Coach Diploma certification and integration in the high-performance training and competition environment. The program is intended for coaches working with LTAD Training to Train and Training to Compete stage athletes.

The 2026 program application deadline is November 17, 2025

2026 HP ACD Application Package

Provided by the Canada Games Council (CGC) and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), the program provides the opportunity for each province and territory to send two (2) female coaches and two (2) aboriginal coaches to the Canada Summer Games in apprenticeship roles. The purpose of the program is to provide developing coaches with a practical and integrated major national multi-sport games experience.

The CTL Professional Development funding's objective is to support lifelong learning and sharing for coaches and technical leaders by providing financial support to participate in targeted professional development opportunities. At the completion of the project, CTLs may be required to submit a summary document on what new skills were developed and how that knowledge can be applied to improve the performance, health or wellness of athletes and CTLS. The funding is intended for full-time coaches and technical leaders working with LTAD Training to Train - Training to Win stage athletes.
